 Elder

Elders are the pastor's helpers in seeing to the spiritual welfare of the congregation. The elders are available, as is the pastor, for assistance and advice on any spiritual matters. The elders are also responsible for overseeing the worship life of the congregation.

Some responsibilities of the elders include:
  • Keep records of the church members, communion, baptisms, confirmations, transfers and releases
  • Procure guest speakers
  • Supervise ushering and acolytes
  • Designate a member to assist the pastor with Holy Communion
  • Ensure all services are conducted in such a manner as to avoid disturbances and foster an attitude conducive to worship among those in attendance
  • Encourage and support the pastor, pray for the pastor and other spiritual leaders in the congregation
The elders stand ready at all times to assist the pastor.

By grace are you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast. ~ Ephesians 2:8,9
